Job summary

The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a Childcare Practitioner to join the team in Wakefield. This full-time role requires delivering high-quality childcare, supporting families, and ensuring safety and effective communication within the nursery setting.

You will work as a key person, collaborating with professionals to support children's welfare, development, and learning within an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • English GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent.
  • Level 3 in Childcare Qualification.
  • Paediatric First Aid.
  • Food Safety Certificate Level 2.

Responsibilities

  • Use an individual approach to each child with a range of experiences.
  • Maintain a high quality, stimulating learning environment sensitive to cultural and individual needs and promote equality.
  • Act as an expert to less experienced staff and provide support and advice to parents.
  • Ensure day-to-day safety and security of the nursery, including opening/closing and visitors.
  • Administer medication as instructed by parents/guardians with proper storage and documentation.
  • Communicate with parents and staff about children's welfare, development and health daily.
  • As a key person, liaise with professionals (Senco, Health Visitor, Child Protection Nurse, Therapist, Educational Specialist).
