Job summary

Teach Now is seeking an enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to support Nursery provision in Barnet. You will work alongside the teacher to deliver play-based learning, supporting children across the setting and adapting to their needs.

The role is full-time, term-time, with a daily rate of £93-£105 depending on qualifications and experience. Start date October 2026 or sooner, with Enhanced DBS clearance required.

Qualifications

• Experience with young children in Nursery or EYFS setting.
• Experience with safeguarding and child welfare is preferred.
• Good communication and patience are essential.

Location: Barnet, North London

Pay: £93-£105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience

Contract: Full-time, long-term, temporary

Teach Now is looking for a caring, enthusiastic Early Years Practitioner to support children within Nursery provision in Barnet. If you enjoy storytelling, creative activities and helping young children discover new skills, this could be your next rewarding role.

About the role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will work alongside the teacher or room leader to deliver engaging, play-based learning. You will support children across the setting, adapting your approach to their interests, developmental stages and individual needs.

Your responsibilities

• Set up inviting indoor and outdoor continuous provision.
• Support communication, early literacy and number skills through stories, songs and play.
• Lead messy play, sensory exploration and creative activities.
• Encourage friendships, confidence, independence and positive routines.
• Support mealtimes, transitions, emotional regulation and toileting or personal care where required.
• Observe children's progress and share useful feedback with the teacher or room leader.
• Provide additional support for emerging speech, language, developmental or SEN needs.

What we're looking for

• Experience working with young children in a Nursery or Early Years setting.
• An understanding of EYFS and the importance of learning through play.
• A warm, patient approach and the initiative to stay actively involved throughout the day.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to safeguarding.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification is desirable, with relevant experience also valued. Previous SEN specialist experience is not essential.
