Job summary

Scottish Borders Council in Cockburnspath is seeking an Early Years Officer on a temporary maternity cover basis for Cockburnspath Nursery. You will join a friendly team to support young children's learning, development and wellbeing in a rural nursery setting.

Under the direction of the head teacher, you will lead nursery staff, plan and deliver Early Learning and Childcare, and work with school staff and ELC teachers to promote high-quality care and learning for all children.

Qualifications

• HNC in Childhood Practice or equivalent qualification required.
• Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of appointment and maintenance of registration.
• All successful applicants will be required to be registered with the SSSC within 3 months of appointment and maintain registration.
• BA Childhood Practice or PDA 8/9 or SVQ4 in related area may be considered as part of the qualification set.

Responsibilities

• Lead nursery staff and work as part of a wider team to deliver Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in the school Nursery settings.
• Plan and deliver Early Learning and Childcare in the nursery in collaboration with school staff and ELC teachers.
• Develop high quality relationships and interactions with children that promote wellbeing and extend thinking and concept development.

BA Childhood Practice

PDA 8 or 9 in Childhood Practice/Early Education and Childcare
