Job summary

Tynecastle Nursery School is seeking an experienced Early Years Officer on a fixed term contract until 30/09/2027. The role is part-time (15 hours per week) across Monday and Tuesday, with 7 hours 30 minutes per day plus a 30-minute break, based at Tynecastle Nursery within Tynecastle Stadium.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years post-qualifying Early Years experience and relevant experience engaging with parents and carers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years post qualifying experience in an Early Years setting.
• Experience working with parents and carers.

Responsibilities

• Support children and families in the Early Years setting.
• Assist with daily operations Monday and Tuesday (7.5 hours each day) including unpaid break.
• Comply with safeguarding and PVG-related pre-employment checks.

Salary: £34,452 - £40,501 (pro rata for part time)

Hours: 15 per week, 52 weeks

Tynecastle Nursery is housed within Tynecastle Stadium in a beautiful, purpose built nursery space. Opened originally in 1929, the new nursery continues to be highly regarded within the community. The nursery benefits from a rich social and cultural mix of families and its diversity is one of its main strengths. A highly skilled, dynamic and motivated staff team support the children and families. The nursery is registered for 55 children aged 2-5 years.

We are now seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated Early Years Officer on a fixed term basis until 30/09/2027, working Monday & Tuesday – 7 hours 30 minutes each plus 30 minutes unpaid break each day.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years proven, post qualifying experience in an Early Years setting and relevant experience of working with parents and carers.

• SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7
• HNC Childhood Practice

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
