Job summary

Manchester City Council in Manchester is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 3 with a focus on English as an Additional Language (EAL) to join Chorlton High School.

You will support pupils for whom English is an additional language, help them access the curriculum and develop academic English, with 35 hours per week, term time plus one week.

This permanent post requires Level 3 TA qualification and experience with EAL in a secondary setting.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Numeracy and literacy skills at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2.
• Experience supporting pupils with EAL in a secondary school or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted EAL support programmes for individuals and small groups.
• Support pupils' development of spoken and written English, including vocabulary and academic language.
• Support teachers with lesson planning, resources and learning activities.
• Maintain records of pupil progress and contribute to assessments and reviews.
• Support behaviour management and ensure safeguarding and inclusion in practice.
