Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an EAL Teaching Assistant for a diverse secondary school in South Gloucestershire. The role supports students’ language development through classroom activities and targeted interventions.

You will work closely with teaching staff to tailor learning to individual needs and promote inclusion so every student can access education fully.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, with school-based experience desirable.
• Experience supporting EAL learners or multilingual students desirable.
• Knowledge of language acquisition strategies and the ability to adapt learning approaches.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• A patient, empathetic and inclusive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Title: EAL Teaching Assistant

Location: South Gloucestershire

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £29,540 - £32,061 per annum

TeacherActive is working with a diverse and inclusive secondary school in South Gloucestershire to recruit an EAL Teaching Assistant. The school is committed to providing an exceptional education for its students and creating a welcoming environment where young people are supported to achieve their full potential.

The school is looking to appoint an EAL Teaching Assistant on a permanent basis, working 32.5 hours per week during term time plus INSET days. The successful EAL Teaching Assistant will support students through classroom activities and targeted interventions, helping to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills while working closely with teaching staff to adapt learning to individual needs.

The successful EAL Teaching Assistant will have:

• A good standard of education, including English and Maths
• Experience working with children or young people, with school-based experience desirable
• Experience supporting EAL learners or multilingual students desirable
• Knowledge of language acquisition strategies and the ability to adapt learning approaches
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• A patient, empathetic and inclusive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
