Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 3 with a specific focus on English as an Additional Language (EAL) to join our fantastic team at Chorlton High School.

This is a Grade 4, permanent post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week. The pro rata salary is £22,710, and the full time equivalent is £26,403.

The role involves delivering targeted EAL support to pupils, assisting teachers, and contributing to inclusive classroom practice across the school.

Qualifications

• Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting pupils with EAL in secondary or similar settings.
• Strong understanding of language acquisition and EAL barriers.
• Ability to work independently and with teaching staff.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to inclusion, high expectations and pupil progress.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted EAL support to individuals and small groups, including newly arrived pupils.
• Help pupils develop spoken and written English, vocabulary and academic language.
• Use EAL strategies to access curriculum across subjects and promote inclusion.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan, deliver and adapt EAL support and classroom strategies.
• Contribute to lesson planning, resources and evaluation of learning activities.
• Maintain records of pupil progress and assist with assessments and reports.
