Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an EAL Teaching Assistant for Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. You will support students whose first language is not English, helping them access the curriculum and participate in lessons.

You will collaborate with teachers to deliver targeted interventions across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting reading, writing, speaking and listening, and promoting confidence and independence among learners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education or support settings.
• Strong understanding of challenges faced by EAL learners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive approach to supporting students.
• Additional language skills are advantageous but not essential.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supporting EAL students within the classroom across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Delivering targeted interventions to develop English language proficiency
• Assisting students with reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
• Working with teachers to adapt learning materials where required
• Encouraging student confidence, engagement, and independence
• Supporting the integration and wellbeing of students who are new to English-speaking education
