Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves is seeking an experienced EAL Learning Support Assistant in Carshalton to support students with English as an Additional Language. You will work with the EAL Co-ordinator and teaching staff to boost language skills and curriculum access within a secondary school setting.

The role emphasises student confidence, inclusion and wellbeing, with term-time only hours and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting students with EAL within a learning environment.
  • A degree in MFL, Linguistics or a related subject is desirable.
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Understanding of learning, child development and behaviour.
  • Patient, organised and self-motivated, with strong professional integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons and interventions for individuals and small groups alongside the EAL Learning Co-ordinator.
  • Develop strategies to improve students' English language skills and attainment.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and provide reader, scribe, translation and interpreting support.
  • Support homework and extra-support clubs, extended school activities and educational visits.
  • Assist with EAL assessments, learning plans and documentation.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Build positive relationships and support students' confidence, inclusion and wellbeing.

EAL Learning Support Assistant – Carshalton

We are seeking an experienced and committed EAL Learning Support Assistant to support students with English as an Additional Language within a secondary school in Carshalton. Working alongside the EAL Learning Co-ordinator and wider teaching team, you will help students develop their English language skills and access the curriculum effectively.
