About You

The Finance Manager will be responsible for providing efficient and flexible support to the operations and project teams in a range of financial and fund management tasks. The Finance Manager will have overall responsibility ensuring the recording of financial transactions and reporting to management and Trustees.

Hours: 20 hours per week (FTE 40 hours per week) primarily office-based in Cardiff- though we are open to flexible hours arrangements and hybrid working.

Salary: £32,000-£37,000 pro rata

Essential Criteria

Financial & Technical Expertise:

  • Experience managing project finances using computerised accounting systems.
  • Understanding of charity accounting standards (SORP) and financial reporting requirements, particularly for government and institutional donors in the non-profit sector.
  • Advanced numeracy and Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling and data analysis.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • AAT-qualified, part-qualified accountant, or fully CCAB-qualified accountant, with a minimum of two years' relevant experience in financial management.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent through professional experience.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with external stakeholders.

Organisational & Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Proven attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in financial processes and reporting.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, work efficiently under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and adapt to the needs of a small, dynamic team.
