Job summary

A leading company in environmental services is seeking a Civils Team Leader to oversee a small team on civil engineering projects. The role involves ensuring safety and quality in installation tasks, conducting ground surveys, and managing site operations. Ideal candidates will have experience with electricity distribution networks and relevant safety certifications.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working on or near electricity distribution networks.
  • Full UK driving license and towing license required.
  • Knowledge of interpreting mains records and manual handling training.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Civils Team Leader who will lead a civils team of two people. You will be responsible for installation and signage functions, ensuring all work is completed safely, professionally, and to high standards in accordance with Utility Line technical designs and guidelines. The role involves nationwide travel to complete civil engineering works for EV and grid connection projects for our growing client base. Working closely with your Civils Operative, you will oversee the team's work to meet safety and quality standards.

More about the role:
  1. Excavation works, including service trenching
  2. Operation of small highways and maintenance plant and equipment
  3. Conducting ground surveys and locating underground services using cable avoidance tools
  4. Liaising with on-site representatives and working closely with Site Managers, Supervisors, Utility Line Electrical Teams, and Sub-Contractors
  5. Managing your company vehicle and ensuring it is maintained in good condition; reporting any repairs needed
  6. Reporting hazards and near misses using Utility Line's reporting system
  7. Building foundations, forming concrete bases, laying ducting, reinstating surfaces, creating inspection pits, and reinstating cable joint bays and cables
  8. Working effectively with colleagues and clients, delivering excellent customer service onsite
  9. Reporting any safety concerns or unsafe conditions to your Line Manager
  10. Keeping project sites tidy and in good order
  11. Representing Utility Line professionally at all times
About you:
  1. Proven experience working on or near electricity distribution networks
  2. Understanding of electrical safety rules
  3. Valid NRSWA/EUSR/CSCS cards, CPCS/NPORS cards for mechanical excavators
  4. Knowledge of interpreting mains records
  5. Manual handling training
  6. Winch operation training
  7. Full UK driving license and towing license
  8. Emergency First Aid (advanced)
  9. Knowledge of hydraulically operated plant and equipment
  10. Cable avoidance and abrasive wheel training
