Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is hiring a Global Business Development Manager – Pharma based at Thornton Science Park, Cheshire, UK.

This is a hybrid role with up to 50% domestic and international travel.

Main Purpose

The Global Business Development Manager will identify and capture value in the transition to lower carbon footprint solutions for the pharmaceutical industry. The role requires strong leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, as it involves writing business proposals, coordinating with stakeholders, assessing business strengths, identifying customer needs, and fostering partnerships. The manager will own an opportunity pipeline of intangible assets and services, working closely with technical and sales teams to serve pharma customers beyond propellant sales.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop the IP licensing business for the unit.
  • Manage and optimize the value related to F-Gas quota systems globally.
  • Build and manage a project pipeline for lab services related to regulatory approval of inhaler formulations.
  • Research and establish relationships with prospects; identify and advance opportunities with decision-makers.
  • Lead development proposals tailored to client needs, including pricing.
  • Address objections by clarifying and emphasizing agreements, working toward positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and colleagues to meet customer needs and develop revenue streams.
  • Participate in industry events and provide market feedback.
  • Present to senior management on business trends and new service opportunities.
  • Work with sales to promote innovations, understand market needs, and support market plans.
Qualifications
  • Desirable: Advanced degree in business, engineering, or sciences.
Knowledge/Experience Required
  • 7+ years in sales/business development, especially IP licensing and intangible products/services.
  • 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, with deep knowledge of the value chain, key players, regulations, and material solutions.
  • Global, collaborative, innovative mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic, self-motivated environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experienced negotiator, capable of reviewing contracts and proposals.
  • Aptitude for developing strong technical and business relationships.
  • Impactful with marketing, commercial, and technical teams.
