The Role

As a Senior Immersive Digital Technician, you will oversee our digital labs and production spaces, providing specialist technical expertise in video editing, podcasting, broadcasting, and virtual production. You'll support a vibrant community of digital creatives, helping them prototype innovative projects, facilitate workshops, deliver training, and engage in dynamic collaborations across diverse sectors.

You will provide expert technical support, manage equipment and workshops, deliver practical training, and facilitate collaborative projects. Your role will be crucial in supporting innovative solutions and creative practices within our community.

About You

• Technical expertise in video editing, podcasting, broadcasting, and familiarity with Blackmagic equipment and DaVinci Resolve.
• Experience or interest in virtual production and using tools such as Unreal Engine.
• An understanding of basic sound engineering or a desire to learn.
• Skilled communicator with experience delivering training and workshops.
• Passionate about creativity and innovation through digital media.
• Collaborative approach, with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
