We are looking for a Project Controls Director to work on a major construction project. The role is inside IR35 day rate.
Principal Accountabilities
- Implement the Civils Works PMO, including the vision, mission, and operating model. Drive delivery of work scope within the programme, ensuring safety, quality, time, and cost standards are met.
- Lead a team with clear roles, responsibilities, and delivery accountabilities.
- Build and manage relationships with the CWA and collaborate on a 'best for Sizewell C' basis.
Leadership and Culture
- Report to the Head of Programme Controls and the Civils Works Programme Director, forming part of their leadership team.
- Translate strategic initiatives into detailed action plans with clear timelines and deliverables.
- Lead the implementation of procedures and initiatives within the supply chain.
- Provide leadership to ensure team objectives and goals are understood and met.
- Promote the project values and develop a cost-conscious, continuous improvement culture.
Day-to-day Management
- Manage Functional Leads in Schedule, Risk, Cost, Change, Reporting & Insights, and Data & IM within the Civils Works PMO.
- Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues, identify risks, and escalate as needed.
- Support and coach PMO resources across Sizewell C.
Stakeholder Engagement & Key Decisions
- Maintain effective relationships with project team members across various entities.
- Influence decisions by the CWP Project Director and Head of Programme Controls.
- Build relationships with government bodies, shareholders, regulators, and suppliers to provide assurance and confidence.
- Collaborate with other Heads of PMO and Programme Controls Managers.
- Represent the project externally, showcasing progress and achievements.
- Accountable for Cost, Risk, Schedule, Reporting & Change within the CWP.
Programme Management
Establish best practices for project management, including interface and requirements management.
Digital Data and Information Management
Establish best practices for digital and data strategy, ensuring data quality and alignment with the project framework.
Develop clear business requirements to support system and tool implementation in collaboration with the digital directorate.
Programme Controls
- Support the delivery of exemplar Project Controls referenced by industry standards.
- Implement best practices in Schedule, Cost, Risk, Baseline, Change Management, and Reporting.
- Support development and maintenance of integrated project controls processes.
- Assist with progress reporting, schedule updates, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Ensure quality and timeliness of performance reports.
- Implement assurance processes for Project Controls.
- Promote industry recognition through knowledge sharing and presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent in business analysis, accounting, finance, construction, engineering, or project management.
- Experience as a Project Controls Director on large, complex infrastructure projects.
- Experience across multiple Project Controls functions: cost control, estimating, scheduling, change, and risk management.
- Understanding of earned value analysis.
- Proven ability to manage teams in a matrix structure and handle senior stakeholder relationships.
- Deliverables-focused with problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation, influencing, and facilitation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
