Job description

We are looking for a Project Controls Director to join a new and exciting venture at the forefront of the changing landscape of the transport industry, focusing on a major infrastructure program expanding transport options.

What You Can Expect

  • Location – Bedford (Hybrid)
  • Salary – £115,000
  • Work type – Permanent

Main Responsibilities as a Project Controls Director

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve project control systems and processes to ensure robust planning, scheduling, cost management, and risk mitigation throughout design and delivery, accounting for the complex network of third-party suppliers involved in the programme lifecycle.
  • Work closely with project managers, design and delivery teams, finance and commercial departments, and other key stakeholders to drive integrated project delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK standards, regulations, and governance frameworks, maintaining high levels of transparency, accountability, and best practice.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership, supporting informed decision-making and effective project governance to achieve programme goals.
  • Lead and support team members by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, coaching and developing individuals, and ensuring adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture, uphold a cost-conscious mindset to ensure responsible use of public funds, and encourage innovation by proactively seeking creative solutions to challenges and opportunities.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Extensive experience in project controls, project management, or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.
  • Deep industry expertise in sectors such as construction, oil and gas, infrastructure, or engineering.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, with experience leading project controls teams and overseeing complex, large-scale projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, coupled with a thorough understanding of project controls processes.
