Purpose:

As a Mechanical Engineer at Smart Managed Solutions, you will ensure all environmental conditions and critical building systems are maintained to the highest standards throughout.

You will carry out PPM tasks, reactive, and breakdown works on all Mechanical systems within the site. Candidates must demonstrate relevant knowledge of HVAC, Hot & Cold Water Systems, and Generators, including fault-finding using graphical data and current alarm data. Basic electrical knowledge is desirable.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure routine PPM is performed on all mechanical plant according to site schedules and asset lists.
  • Complete reactive tasks promptly and proactively suggest improvements, including concessionary stores and fabric-related items.
  • Quickly remedy plant faults and defects to keep equipment operational.
  • Maintain availability of suitable spares, providing parts lists and time estimates for remedial works.
  • Complete all paperwork related to reactive and breakdown works promptly and pass to the contract administrator.
  • Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safety.
  • Develop good working relationships with staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, including wearing uniform and PPE.
  • Present a professional image of Smart Managed Solutions to clients.
  • Keep plant rooms under responsibility clean, tidy, and locked when not in use.
  • Supervise and monitor subcontractor work on-site.
  • Ensure assigned tasks are completed appropriately and safely.
  • Adhere to H&S policies and contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
  • Keep the Computer-Based Maintenance system (e.g., Maximo) updated, closing tickets with accurate data.
  • Operate Permit to Work System following company and client procedures.

Education and Training:

  • Formally trained in a mechanical engineering discipline (e.g., HVAC, Plumbing) to City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 2.
