We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Engineer (East) & North Team Lead within the UK, part of the Edwards Customer Centre, covering the EMEA region. The role reports to the Regional Sales Manager UK.

The Role
  • Position Edwards as the core supplier of products and services by managing direct accounts in the Scientific and Industrial sectors within the East UK region.
  • Represent the brand to customers, developing and maintaining strong relationships within your territory.
  • Plan your own schedule, visiting existing and potential customers regularly and coordinating with support teams.
  • Identify new business opportunities using marketing tools and CRM platform to drive growth activities.
  • Develop and execute sales plans, targets, and forecasts; provide market analysis and customer visit reports to support business strategy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across divisions to maximize customer relationships and business outcomes, and participate in ad-hoc projects.
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of customer needs to provide appropriate equipment and services.
Your Responsibilities
  • Manage a sales region and lead a small team of Sales and Inside Sales to meet and exceed targets.
  • Implement growth initiatives across all market segments and business lines in the North Region.
  • Assist in forecasting and achieving financial targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set development goals for team members.
  • Develop business plans for your accounts to drive growth and profitability.
  • Maximize customer-facing time, aiming for over 50% in direct contact.
  • Implement initiatives aligned with UK and EMEA sales strategies.
  • Achieve revenue and profit goals for your accounts.
  • Identify and develop new customer potential.
  • Provide monthly performance and planning reports.
  • Maintain and update CRM systems, including lead and opportunity management.
  • Prepare customer visit reports and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and marketing teams for support.
  • Manage customer payments in collaboration with credit control.
  • Work with the sales team to ensure transparent and collaborative business management.
  • Coordinate with other Edwards departments to position Edwards as a premium supplier.
  • Plan and execute new product launches with the Product Division.
  • Provide monthly sales forecasts and report on competitive activities.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering or Science, with several years of relevant sales experience (technical/mechanical).
  • Good knowledge of vacuum science and applications in Scientific Vacuum sectors.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong networking, influencing, and presentation skills, capable of engaging at senior levels.
  • Proven track record of sales success, with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to develop problem resolution plans and drive them to completion.
  • Excellent relationship development, negotiation, and contractual understanding skills.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to support, guide, and mentor team members.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the territory and occasionally beyond.
