Senior Logistics Supervisor
Main purpose of the job
To manage the warehouse function on a day-to-day shift basis ensuring all resources are in place, trained and operating to the required standard, in order to meet the department KPI's and delivery targets.
Main responsibilities and results
- Accountable for health and safety of employees across Mats Bay and Warehouses, ensuring Artifex procedures are followed, including incident reporting.
- Responsible for highlighting any health and safety issues across the plant.
- Accountable for cross-shift discussions with previous and oncoming shift, following plant standards.
- Audit all processes for compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) for all tasks across Mats Bay and warehouses.
- Ensure appropriate levels of skilled resources are maintained across Mats Bay and warehouses.
- Manage weekly shift rotas with contingency plans as required.
- Ensure new team members are trained in SOPs, practices, and policies.
- Perform regular reviews of team members.
- Maintain discipline across Mats Bay and warehouse.
- Conduct first-stage consultations/investigations as per company policies.
- Supervise management of holidays, sickness, and return to work procedures.
- Maintain KPIs as directed by Warehouse and MPL Managers.
- Perform risk assessments supporting health and safety compliance.
- Conduct monthly safety audits.
- Manage stock takes across Mats Bay and warehouse.
- Ensure adherence to 5S standards.
- Manage downtime due to lack of materials or packaging.
- Participate in plant activities contributing to the Continuous Improvement (CI) roadmap.
- Ensure quality standards are met, e.g., ASRS compliance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ILM Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards ILM Level 5.
- Numerate and literate to minimum O Level / GCSE “C”.
- FLT Licence for Counterbalance/Reach (desirable).
- Knowledge of Goods In, FIFO, Stock Control, and Material Handling.
- Experience managing a team, including appraisals, return-to-work interviews, and KPIs.
- Experience in training, mentoring, and team building.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to complete 8D reports (desirable).
- Experience with WMS / RFGen systems (desirable).
- Influencing and persuasive communication style with a “Can Do” attitude.
- Effective time management and task prioritization skills.
- Process-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, Kamishibai, and Lean (desirable).
