Business Area Manager (Commercial waste)



Salary: Competitive plus performance bonus, company car/car cash allowance, private medical cover, pension and many other Veolia benefits.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Widnes (covering Manchester, Chorley & Widnes)

What you'll be doing;

  • Managing a number of commercial waste collection businesses, overseeing staff and resources.
  • Delivering effective services to maximise operational efficiency and profitability, within budget.
  • Working closely with the sales teams and understanding local market conditions and competitors to maximise the potential for growth opportunities.
  • Providing clear, transparent & accurate reporting of business performance.
  • Delivering operational efficiencies through the use of digital, asset utilisation, and cost control.
  • Developing and delivering strategic plans to ensure that the business adapts to changing environments and customer needs.
  • Providing visible, approachable, and exceptional leadership and maximising quality and efficiency through team management.
  • Providing high-level customer relationship management.
  • Delivering effective budgets and monitoring financials, overseeing profit and loss accounts, including forecasting, sales growth, and profits.
  • Ensuring safety remains at the forefront of everything.
  • Carrying out performance discussions to ensure site succession is in place.



What we're looking for;

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Previous commercial waste management experience.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management.
  • Customer relationship management.
  • Strong communication, negotiation & influencing skills.
  • Ability to delegate through empowerment & trust.
  • Fleet management experience.
