My client in the Croydon area is seeking a Design and Development Engineer due to expansion.

The Company

My client is a long-established successful SME specializing in manufacturing engineering, serving high-reliability sectors including nuclear, defence, and aerospace markets. The company designs and manufactures detector products for UK and export markets, supported by a team of ninety skilled professionals in challenging markets that underpin key international activities in energy, medical, and security sectors.

About the Role

We are looking for a Design and Development Engineer to join our Engineering team. The role involves providing Mechanical Engineering expertise to support operational activities, meet order requirements, and offer technical support to maximize sales and enhance customer perception of our capabilities and responsiveness. The focus will be on identifying, evaluating, and implementing new product and process development opportunities.

To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of an HNC or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline, preferably with a solid background in mechanical engineering. A good understanding of materials, mechanical properties, material selection, testing, and manufacturing methods—including general assembly, welding, brazing, and non-destructive testing—is essential.

Excellent communication skills and experience interfacing with customers on both commercial and technical levels are required. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, able to work to schedules, and meet deadlines.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
5 days per week, 37.5 hours
