Our client is seeking an Air Logistics Gateway & Procurement Specialist.
Working within a high-performing team, your role will involve procuring air freight costs and flights, booking and processing export shipments on an allocated or ad hoc basis to meet strict deadlines. From an import perspective, you will plan and monitor full utilization of trucks. You will also be responsible for maintaining quality standards in security, health and safety, as well as environmental standards related to these areas.
Your Responsibilities
- Capacity procurement and rate negotiation on scheduled flights, charter, and part charter services.
- Export: Produce and prepare documents for cargo transit, ensure customs declarations and security checks are complete, and issue check certificates. Follow SOPs, create accurate accruals, recover compromised route plans, negotiate spot rates, adjust allocations, optimize processes, support safe ULD builds, and manage ULD equipment.
- Import: Plan and optimize truck movements, maintain communication with UK branch, Airport Transfer, and warehouse teams in the UK, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam; build strong stakeholder relationships; manage Frankfurt pallet operations, issue and performance management, volume reporting, truck P&L responsibility, and resolve customs matters.
- From a QSHE perspective, cooperate with stakeholders and adhere to company procedures and work instructions.
- Drive continuous improvement through CAPA, supplier management, and promoting a culture of ongoing enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative authorities, including import/export regulations and aviation security standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment by addressing unsafe acts, complying with ISO 45001 standards, and following company instructions.
Your Skills and Experiences
- Proven experience in air freight, including capacity and rate negotiation with carriers.
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, Customs, and Aviation Security governance and control.
- Understanding of aircraft types, configurations, routings, and equipment.
- Experience with ULD builds.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, persuade, and collaborate.
- Strong commercial acumen, resourcefulness, and proficiency in time management, organization, and planning.
- Methodical and logical problem-solving skills to make sound business decisions.
- Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
Salary up to £36K depending on experience.
The working hours are:
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm (Week 1)
- Tuesday to Saturday, with varied hours (Week 2): Tuesday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm, Friday 12pm to 8.30pm, Saturday 7am to 3.30pm.
