Role

Forbes Solicitors LLP is seeking a Paralegal to join our Insurance (Industrial Disease) team at our Manchester office. This is a full-time position, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to advance their career within our award-winning Insurance team. The position combines a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with a healthy work-life balance, aligned with the regional area.

The successful candidate will manage their own caseload of defendant insurance industrial disease claims.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide support to Advisors through chargeable legal work, including evidence review, witness statements, court preparations, and legal bundle collation.
  2. Ensure smooth progression of cases by prioritizing tasks, monitoring deadlines, and keeping clients informed.
  3. Draft and prepare legal documents based on analysis and understanding of case information.
  4. Assist in providing legal advice under supervision to resolve queries and advance cases.
  5. Assess client queries and file notes to identify necessary actions and guide case progression.
  6. Attend external meetings, including hearings, court appearances, and client meetings.
  7. Maintain and update case management systems and documents with accurate information.
  8. Conduct legal research and produce high-quality articles and reports for internal and external use.
  9. Manage communication with clients and stakeholders, including updates, queries, and escalation when necessary.
The Person

Applicants will be considered based on their knowledge, experience, and skills, including:

  • Holding a CILEX qualification, Law Degree, or equivalent.
  • Alignment with the firm’s values.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Proficiency in IT tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and case management systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in long-term development within the department.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Experience in defending insurance claims.
  • Previous paralegal experience.
  • Experience with industrial disease claims.
