Job Description:

Summary

The Manchester Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable Lecturer in Education (Partnership Liaison) to work as part of its highly-regarded Secondary PGCE course. This is a lecturer (teaching-only) appointment, and it is a part-time role (0.15 full-time equivalent).

The Lecturer in Education (Partnership Liaison) role involves working as part of a team contributing to the quality enhancement, quality assurance, and maintenance of the PGCE Secondary Partnership through visits and liaison with schools and colleges, and communicating with academic and professional services teams in the university.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, together with recent and relevant experience of working in Initial Teacher Education partnerships, either in higher education and/or at a senior level in a school or college.

Flexibility in working patterns and a willingness to travel is required, as the role mainly involves liaising with, visiting, and reporting on approximately 45 schools during three placements: Placement 1 (Oct-Dec, approx. 25 schools), Placement 2 (Jan-Apr, approx. 15 schools), and Placement 3 (approx. 5 schools). Most visits are in-person, with meetings lasting around an hour.

Applicants must confirm, and post-holders will undergo checks to ensure that they are not barred from working with children or vulnerable adults, or subject to sanctions or ongoing investigations that could question their suitability for the role.

What you will get in return:

  • Market-leading pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services, including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over Christmas
  • Discounts at major retailers
