Job description

Summary

The Manchester Institute of Education is seeking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable Lecturer in Education (Partnership Liaison) to work as part of its highly-regarded Secondary PGCE course. This is a lecturer (teaching-only) appointment, and it is a part time role (0.15 full time equivalent).

  • The Lecturer in Education (Partnership Liaison) role involves working as part of a team contributing to the quality enhancement, quality assurance and maintenance of the PGCE Secondary Partnership through visits and liaison with schools and colleges, and communicating with academic and professional services teams in the university.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, together with recent and relevant experience of working in Initial Teacher Education partnerships, either in higher education and/or at a senior level in a school or college.
  • Flexibility in working patterns and a willingness to travel is a requirement of this role, which mainly involves liaising with, visiting and reporting on approximately 45 schools in total during Placement 1 (Oct to Dec. approx.25 schools), Placement 2 (Jan to April, approx. 15 schools) and Placement 3 (approx. 5 schools). Most visits are completed in-person with meetings lasting around an hour.
  • Applicants are required to confirm, and post-holders will be required to undergo checks to ensure, that they are not barred from working with children or vulnerable adults or subject to sanctions imposed by a regulatory body or subject to any on-going investigation into any matter which may bring into question their suitability for the post applied for.
