Here at the Mick George Group , we are currently recruiting a Commercial Manager – Waste Services to join the Commodities team.
Location : Mick George Head Office – Huntingdon & Field Based Working Hours : Monday – Friday 8am-5pm, Saturdays as Required.
Pay : To be discussed at Interview, dependant on experience.

Job Overview: At Mick George Group, we’re seeking a driven Commercial Manager to spearhead growth in our commodities division, with a strong emphasis on managing existing accounts while developing new business.
Operating across Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Peterborough, and surrounding regions, this senior role is instrumental in driving performance across key waste streams such as metal, cardboard, plastics, and other recyclables.
Your time will be split approximately 60% account management – strengthening and expanding our relationships with existing clients – and 40% on new business development , focusing on high-margin commodity opportunities.
Responsibilities: Manage and grow a portfolio of existing accounts within the commodities sector, ensuring retention, satisfaction, and upsell opportunities.
Identify and secure new business opportunities, particularly in commodity waste streams and container services (skips and ROROs).
Develop tailored waste solutions based on site visits, customer needs, and market opportunities.
Negotiate and close profitable contracts, ensuring accurate pricing using internal tools and commercial insight.
Maintain a strong and accurate sales pipeline through CRM with timely updates, quotations, and reporting.
Keep up to date with market trends in recyclable commodities, pricing fluctuations, and competitor activity.
Represent Mick George Group at networking events, trade shows, and industry forums to build brand awareness and generate leads.
Deliver against set KPIs including account growth, revenue targets, and new client acquisition.
Skills & Competencies Required: Some commercial sales experience with a track record of negotiating and closing deals.
Some understanding of the waste industry, including hazardous waste regulations (Training will be provided) Comfortable operating autonomously in the field and managing your own workload.
Excellent communication and presentation skills – adept with both shop-floor staff and board-level executives.
High level of organisation and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Technologically proficient – especially in MS Office and CRM tools.
Self-motivated, results-driven, and passionate about customer service.
Ability to balance methodical planning with dynamic execution.
Full UK driving licence.
