Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Director - Payroll position is to act as a subject matter expert responsible for managing all payroll processes, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and overseeing payroll disbursements. The Payroll Director will collaborate with finance, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payroll information dissemination.
Job Requirements:
- Manage day-to-day payroll operations for multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits, and taxes, in compliance with wage and hour laws.
- Coordinate with accounting to ensure timely funding of payroll outputs.
- Ensure adherence to governmental reporting and regulations; maintain control processes to protect assets.
- Oversee payroll audits and maintain relationships with external agencies and vendors.
- Supervise payroll tax functions and approve quarterly and annual filings.
- Mentor and manage the payroll team.
- Develop and maintain payroll process documentation and controls.
- Collaborate with ERP team on Workday Payroll upgrades and enhancements.
- Oversee account reconciliation, variance analysis, payroll accruals, and journal reviews.
- Process pay inputs for executive team.
- Implement and audit controls as the department grows.
- Maintain communication with HR and Finance for data sharing and strategy.
- Recommend and implement operational improvements.
- Foster collaboration within the payroll team and across departments.
- Monitor staff appointments, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
- Prepare payroll reports for management, HR, finance, and government agencies.
- Lead payroll integration projects to automate tasks and reduce errors.
- Generate reports for accounting and operations.
- Continuously improve processes to reduce time and costs while maintaining accuracy.
- Handle escalations and urgent requests.
- Review payroll invoices.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.

- 5-7 years of payroll systems and supervisory experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of US and international payroll systems.
- Discretion in handling confidential information.
- Experience with Workday Payroll.
