Job description

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations such as Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd, and Wylfa, as well as research sites Harwell and Winfrith. Additionally, NRS manages electricity generation at the Maentwrog hydroelectric plant. NRS Dounreay, a division of NRS, handles the clean-up and demolition of the former fast reactor research and development site.

About The Role

“The Maintenance Engineering Team is composed of highly skilled professionals across Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Control & Instrumentation disciplines. They are responsible for maintaining and ensuring the performance of the site’s plant systems and infrastructure, providing comprehensive services to internal and external stakeholders to guarantee safety, reliability, and compliance within a highly regulated environment.

This position is for a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias, supporting fault investigation, defect rectification, and maintenance of plant and equipment. The role is based on-site at Dungeness with working hours from Monday to Thursday, 07:25 to 17:00, ideal for those seeking a four-day work week.”

Key Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assess emergent plant or equipment deficiencies for rectification.
  • Assist in maintaining site plant safety, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessments, and prepare Method Statements/Work Instructions for defect maintenance.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance activities and projects.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, procedures, and work instructions, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Support delivery within your skills, knowledge, experience, and competence as a customer-focused team member.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
  • HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification at NQF level 5.
  • Knowledge and experience of fixed installation testing to BS7671, and fault rectification on LV circuits.
  • Experience with industrial processes such as motor control (VSD, DOL), process heating, air handling systems, PLC-driven processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of HV systems, maintenance, and protection arrangements.
  • Familiarity with safe systems of work.
Note: No prior nuclear experience is necessary as training will be provided.
