Job description

Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Operations Coordinator in our Underwriting Operations team to support our UK Insurance Market on a permanent basis.

The Operations team supports business processing, liaising with other functions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across a broad array of activities, including policy-specific transactions, change management, and onboarding.

What You’ll Be Doing

The main responsibilities of the International Operations Coordinator include:

1. Transaction Processing
   • Month/Quarter End Reconciliations and Reporting
   • Support for Facultative Reinsurance Processing and Reconciliations
   • Creating Process Documentation (SOPs) and delivering onsite training
   • Supporting key processes undertaken by Underwriting Assistants (UAs)
2. Compliance
   • Incorporation of evolving regulatory requirements into the ‘Business As Usual’ process and reports
   • Support for reports such as Quarterly Solvency II ‘Bound But Not Incepted’ & ‘Ceded Fac RI’ and Annual Solvency II returns
3. On-boarding
   • Support for adding new Lines of Business, Products, or new joiners, including process harmonization, systems, and training in line with Sompo International standards
4. Underwriting Services
   • Support for Business Requirements provision to IT Business Analysts
   • Provision of remote or onsite training for core UW Tools (Guidewire Policy Centre, ImageRight, SONIC Workflow, Reports)
   • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new technology deployments
   • Assisting with special projects and other responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader
   • Managing Fronting Partners activities, including Bordereau reporting and query escalation
5. Data Analytics
   • Supporting Data Quality standards
   • Assisting with PowerBI reports development and support

What You’ll Bring

• Relevant London Market Insurance experience (Underwriting Assistance or Operations)
• Ability to prioritize and organize demanding workloads
• Strong communication skills (written and oral)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Initiative, resilience under pressure, teamwork, and deadline commitment in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in adult training is a plus
