A leading NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time telephonist for its busy Switchboard Department. The role requires flexibility to cover shifts and involves providing a confidential telephone service, ensuring efficient communication, and participating in the on-call rota. Ideal candidates will have experience in handling telephone queries and excellent telephone manners, with opportunities for internal visits to the Switchboard Team.
We are seeking a part-time telephonist (25-hour post) for the busy Switchboard Department. The role involves working rostered shifts over a 24-hour period with flexibility to cover shifts as needed.
The postholder must demonstrate a flexible approach to support the department and ensure continuous service for patients and staff.
Working days will be discussed at interview, with rotas arranged over a 4-week pattern.
Participation in the On Call Rota is required.

The role involves providing a confidential telephone service to support hospital activities. Experience in handling telephone queries and delivering high-quality responses is essential. Experience with alarm monitoring, bleep systems, and liaising with departments is beneficial but not mandatory.
Key responsibilities include ensuring efficient communication services, monitoring alarms, and dealing with emergencies. Previous switchboard experience, preferably in an acute hospital setting, and excellent telephone manners are desirable. Knowledge of IT and Windows is also advantageous.
The hospital operates 24/7, and flexibility is essential to provide emergency services. The role includes being part of the on-call rota, 1 in 4.
