Job summary

Vale seeks a CIE Technician to support safe and efficient operation of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) plant at Clydach Nickel Refinery. You will perform planned, preventative and corrective maintenance to maximise availability and minimise downtime, working with Production, Engineering and Maintenance teams.

The role requires fault-finding skills, commitment to safety, and a proactive problem-solving approach in a 24-hour refinery environment with rotating day and night shifts.

Qualifications

• Completed Apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience within an industrial maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine, preventative and emergency Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance activities across the refinery.
• Respond to plant breakdowns, diagnosing faults and restoring equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety by completing SLAM assessments and ensuring compliant with risk assessments, permits and safe systems of work.
• Liaise with the CIE Coordinator regarding technical issues, job progress, delays and maintenance priorities.
• Accurately record maintenance activities, job details and follow-up actions within SAP.
• Identify and report equipment defects, reliability concerns and opportunities for improvement.
• Support refinery production by ensuring minimum downtime and maximum equipment availability.
• Participate in daily FMDS meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with the development and training of apprentices and colleagues when required.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and support 5S principles within the workplace.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve operational and maintenance objectives.
• Participate in overtime and call-out activities where reasonably practicable.
