Job summary

M-Sport UK, based at Dovenby Hall, requires a Dyno Test Technician to join the Engine and Dyno team. You will prepare engines and test cells, install engines on dynos and run tests in collaboration with engineers, collecting data to support performance development.

You will follow detailed procedures, maintain equipment, troubleshoot faults, and contribute to process improvements. The role suits a practical engineer with a passion for motorsport and strong attention to detail who can work safely

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • A strong interest in motorsport, automotive engineering and high-performance vehicles.
  • Good practical skills with an interest in understanding how engines and mechanical systems operate.
  • An understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with an interest in engine performance and testing.
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical information and data.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage tasks effectively and maintain a tidy and organised workplace.
  • Strong understanding of safety around high-performance engines, machinery, fuel and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare competition engines, test equipment and dynamometer facilities for scheduled testing activities.
  • Assist with the installation, removal and preparation of engines on dynamometer test cells.
  • Safely operate engine dynamometer equipment in accordance with established procedures and test requirements.
  • Monitor and record engine performance data during testing, ensuring accurate information is captured.
  • Assist Engineers with the identification and investigation of engine, test equipment and instrumentation faults.
  • Follow detailed test procedures and technical instructions to ensure testing is carried out consistently and accurately.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, inspection and preparation of dyno equipment and facilities.
  • Contribute to development of testing processes and procedures to improve efficiency, reliability and data quality.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, GT racing and a variety of global customer racing activities. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Dyno Test Technician to join our growing Engine and Dyno team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for motorsport, engineering and high-performance competition engines to play a key role in the development and testing of competition engines. Working alongside experienced Engineers and Technicians, you will be responsible for supporting operation of engine dynamometers and the testing of high-performance competition engines.

The role responsibilities include:
  • Dyno Test Preparation:Prepare competition engines, test equipment and dynamometer facilities for scheduled testing activities.

  • Engine Installation:Assist with the installation, removal and preparation of engines on dynamometer test cells.

  • Dyno Operations:Safely operate engine dynamometer equipment in accordance with established procedures and test requirements.

  • Data Acquisition:Monitor and record engine performance data during testing, ensuring accurate and reliable information is captured.

Essential Criteria & Skills:
  • Education:A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience of engine testing, dynamometers or data acquisition systems.

  • Good understanding of internal combustion engines and engine management systems.

  • Experience using mechanical workshop tools and equipment.
