BaxterStorey UK is seeking a motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team, crafting flavourful dishes and ensuring high standards of presentation and service. You will support the Head Chef, supervise kitchen staff, and help manage menus, stock, and costs in a fast-paced, contract catering environment.

The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, a passion for food, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience in a contract catering or education sector is preferred.
• Certifications from a recognised culinary institute are desirable.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Fun, enthusiastic and well organised.
• Team player with a flexible approach to work.

Responsabilités

• Assist Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production and service.
• Ensure quality and presentation meet company and client standards.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring food safety compliance.
• Assist in menu planning considering dietary needs and seasonal ingredients.
• Oversee stock control and ordering to maintain inventory with minimal waste.
• Collaborate with catering team for events and themed dinners.
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen following health and safety regulations.
• Support Head Chef with scheduling, budgeting and food cost records.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new ingredients to enhance offerings.
• Foster a positive workplace through leadership and teamwork.
