Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Mobile Catering Assistant to actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under supervision. You will contribute to hygienic service, customer satisfaction and sales promotion within the unit.

The role requires willingness to train, ability to organise dining areas, and adherence to statutory safeguarding and food handling standards. The post emphasises teamwork and commitment to children and youth across schools.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria: willingness to undertake job-related training.
• Must have access to suitable vehicle or provide alternative transport.
• Shortlisting by application form and interview per EA model.
• Evidence of effective leadership, communication, planning, and motivation for good food and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages using appropriate equipment.
• Simple cooking including reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Assisting with the promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal.
• Maintaining contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables and serving points.
• Completing general kitchen and dining room duties including washing up.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes.
• Securing premises as required.
• Carrying out duties to comply with Acts, regulations and codes of practice.
