Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teacher of Humanities to join a large secondary partnership academy in Barnsley from September 2026. You will inspire students across humanities and contribute to a supportive, ambitious school community.

The role welcomes both experienced teachers and ECTs, with opportunities to teach History, Geography, Religious Education or other humanities subjects at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Qualifications

• A qualified teacher with relevant secondary teaching experience.
• Able to teach at least one humanities subject confidently.
• Passionate about education and committed to achieving excellent outcomes for students.
• An engaging and enthusiastic classroom practitioner.
• Able to establish positive relationships with students and maintain high expectations.
• Organised, reliable and adaptable.
• Committed to inclusive teaching and supporting the progress of every student.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive humanities lessons.
• Teach students across Key Stages 3 and/or 4, depending on experience and subject specialism.
• Inspire students to develop their knowledge, understanding and critical-thinking skills.
• Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal development.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students of varying abilities.
• Work collaboratively with the humanities department and wider school staff.
• Contribute to the wider life of the academy.
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers.
