Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a committed Teacher of Humanities for a large secondary partnership academy in Barnsley, starting September 2026. The role covers Key Stages 3 and 4 across humanities subjects, with a focus on inspiring students and maintaining high standards of teaching and behaviour.

The ideal candidate will have secondary humanities teaching experience and be able to teach at least one humanities subject confidently.

Teacher of Humanities - September Start

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Humanities to join a large and well-established secondary partnership academy in Barnsley from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who can inspire students across the humanities curriculum and contribute positively to a supportive, ambitious school community. The academy is part of a large partnership, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration, professional development and career progression.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience teaching History, Geography, Religious Education or another humanities subject at secondary level. Applications are welcomed from both experienced teachers and suitably qualified ECTs.

The Role

As a Teacher of Humanities, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive humanities lessons.
  • Teach students across Key Stages 3 and/or 4, depending on experience and subject specialism.
  • Inspire students to develop their knowledge, understanding and critical-thinking skills.
  • Assess student progress effectively and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal development.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students of varying abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with the humanities department and wider school staff.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the academy.
  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers.
