Job summary

Kingsleigh Primary School in Dorset is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support in Early Years and Key Stage 1, with responsibilities across classes and a 35-hour week (8.15am–3.45pm). The role is term-time with inset days, and offers a competitive scale.

Start date is ASAP, with a closing date of 27th September 2026. The successful candidate will have HLTA experience, be a strong team player, and be able to communicate clearly with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Experience as HLTA or similar support role in primary settings.
• Ability to cover classes and maintain classroom momentum.
• Strong communication with colleagues and families.
• Proficient use of school IT systems and record-keeping.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and adapt lessons for whole classes and small groups.
• Use formative assessment to adjust tasks and monitor progress.
• Use questioning skills to ensure pupils make strong progress.
• Provide high quality feedback that pupils act on.
• Act as trained safeguarding professional in line with school policies.
• Provide feedback to class teachers and parent/carers as directed by the class teacher.
