Job summary

Additional Resources is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement and support IT infrastructure across a technical environment. The role involves project delivery, automation and continuous improvement with a salary of £78,000 and benefits.

Valid DV clearance is essential. Responsibilities include implementing physical and virtual infrastructure, maintaining systems, and developing automation scripts using Ansible, Python and PowerShell.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• DV clearance is essential for the role.
• Experience in systems administration and IT infrastructure support.
• Experience leading or owning IT project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of networking technologies and equipment (Cisco, Juniper, HP, Dell).
• Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and related networking protocols.
• Familiarity with VMware and Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Practical scripting knowledge (Ansible/AWX, Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Experience managing and supporting Microsoft and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of backup technologies (NetBackup, Veeam).

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement physical and virtual IT infrastructure solutions.
• Deliver infrastructure projects in line with customer requirements and timescales.
• Maintain and support existing IT infrastructure and deployed systems.
• Diagnose and resolve infrastructure faults and technical issues efficiently.
• Monitor system performance and perform routine maintenance including backups, patching and upgrades.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation for supported infrastructure.
• Record significant incidents and actions taken to resolve issues.
• Create and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline routine tasks.
