Job summary

Avanti West Coast is seeking a DSAR Specialist in Birmingham to manage end-to-end data subject rights requests, with a focus on employee-related cases. You will work with the DPO, HR, Legal teams and external solicitors to ensure lawful, timely responses.

Qualifications

• Experience handling Subject Access Requests under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Ability to review and redact highly sensitive documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of SARs from receipt to completion, meeting deadlines.
• Lead on complex employee-related SARs including investigations and whistleblowing.
• Search across HR systems, emails, CCTV and third-party platforms.
• Apply DPA 2018 exemptions and document decisions.
• Review and redact sensitive documents.
• Coordinate CCTV and body-worn video disclosures.
• Prepare clear disclosure letters and schedules.
• Collaborate with Legal teams and external solicitors on litigation.
• Escalate high-risk issues to the DPO.
• Maintain records and audit trails.
• Contribute to SAR process improvements.
• Stay updated with data protection guidance.
