Job description

About Perceptual Robotics

Perceptual Robotics builds autonomous drones and AI that inspect critical assets and predict maintenance needs, and we give teams the tools to do this work themselves. We're based in Bristol and Athens, with people working remotely in other countries. In wind, our drones capture blade imagery in the field and our platform, Dhalion, turns it into high-confidence defect detection and cost-based repair prioritisation. We work with more than 50 wind operators, service providers and OEMs across 20 countries in Europe and Latam, and we're expanding from wind into other energy and critical infrastructure.

Founded in 2016 we maintain a startup mindset with a demanding environment where each member of the team contributes meaningfully. If you want to make a visible impact and enjoy a fast-moving team, we'd like to hear from you.

The Role

This role sits at the centre of how we deliver a great experience to clients using our drone systems. You\'ll be the first line of technical support for clients running inspections on Dhalion drones, helping them get the most out of the platform and resolving issues as they come up. Alongside this, you\'ll be one of our operational pilots: flying inspections, training other pilots, and supporting R&D as we test new hardware and software.

This suits someone who\'s happiest close to both the product and the people using it — comfortable troubleshooting a client\'s query one day and flying a blade inspection the next.

Roles and Responsibilities

Client support

  • Provide first-line (level 1) technical support to clients using our drone systems and the Dhalion platform
  • Troubleshoot client queries relating to drone operations, data upload and processing, and reporting
  • Track and manage support queries through to resolution, and keep clients updated
  • Feed customer and product feedback back into the product roadmap

Drone operations

  • Fly commercial drone inspection missions, primarily on wind turbine blades and other large assets, as part of the Ops team
  • Maintain CAA compliance, Operations Manual standards and H&S practice across deployments
  • Support R&D testing of new drone hardware and software
  • Act as a trainer: train and mentor other pilots on our systems and procedures
Minimum Requirements
  • Certified UAV pilot (NQE qualification or equivalent), with 2+ years of commercial drone flying experience
  • Experience in a client-facing role, with the ability to build rapport, manage expectations and communicate clearly across a range of stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence interacting with and supporting clients
  • Comfortable with H&S management and Operations Manual compliance on deployments
  • Full UK or EU driving licence
  • UK or EU right to work
  • Willing to travel for deployments and client training, with reasonable notice
Desired Requirements
  • Experience flying around wind turbines or other large assets
  • GWO certificates (Working at Heights, Fire, First Aid) or Authorised Technician qualification
  • Experience training or mentoring pilots, technicians or clients
  • Experience processing or interpreting drone inspection data and defect detection
  • Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR) knowledge
  • Experience in a technical or customer support role, comfortable explaining technical issues to non-technical clients
  • Other European language skills
  • Experience designing, assembling or maintaining drones
  • Company share option plan
  • Flexible hours, including working from home
  • Annual training budget to develop your skills and career
  • Laptop and work equipment provided
  • No dress code; wear what you like
  • Pension plan
  • Other benefits depending on role and region
