Job summary

GXO Coventry is seeking a Drivers Mate to support our transport team in a fast-paced, team‑driven environment. You’ll assist with multidrop deliveries, handle palletised goods and maintain clear communication with the driver and Depot Transport Office.

This full‑time, permanent role operates on an ‘any 5 days from 7’ pattern with 18:30 start, 48 hours per week, and a salary of £32,834.51 inclusive of night shift allowance, plus pension, healthcare and extensive training.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting multidrop deliveries is preferred but not essential.
• Strong customer service skills with clear and professional communication.
• Comfortable carrying out manual handling tasks including lifting, pulling and pushing.
• Positive, can-do attitude with a proactive and reliable approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver with multidrop deliveries, supporting up to 6 drops per shift and helping to collect returns from stores in line with operational needs
• Help with the safe and efficient handling of palletised goods and cages, including loading and unloading at each delivery point
• Maintain clear communication with the driver and Depot Transport Office, ensuring any issues are reported promptly while delivering excellent, courteous customer service
• Support safe and compliant operations by following company procedures and assisting with accurate completion of required paperwork

Here at GXO Coventry we are looking for Drivers Mate to join our transport team, supporting our customer Halfords. You’ll play a key part in keeping the supply chain flowing smoothly in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘any 5 days form 7’pattern, with start time of 18:30, contracted to 48 hours per week.
