Job summary

GXO is seeking a Drivers Mate in Coventry to support the driver with multidrop deliveries in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. This full-time, permanent position operates on an ‘any 5 days form 7’ pattern with an 18:30 start and 48 hours per week.

The role offers an annual salary of £32,834.51 (inclusive of night shift allowance) along with holiday pay, a workplace pension and healthcare/dental plans, plus extensive training opportunities and family apprenticeship options.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in multidrop deliveries is preferred but not essential.
• Strong customer service and professional communication.
• Able to perform manual handling tasks including lifting, pulling and pushing.
• Positive, proactive and reliable approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver with multidrop deliveries, supporting up to 6 drops per shift and returns collection.
• Handle palletised goods and cages safely during loading/unloading at delivery points.
• Maintain clear communication with the driver and Depot Transport Office and report issues.
• Support safe, compliant operations and assist with paperwork.

Here at GXO Coventry we are looking for Drivers Mate to join our transport team, supporting our customer Halfords. You’ll play a key part in keeping the supply chain flowing smoothly in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘any 5 days form 7’ pattern, with start time of 18:30, contracted to 48 hours per week.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Assist the driver with multidrop deliveries, supporting up to 6 drops per shift and helping to collect returns from stores in line with operational needs
• Help with the safe and efficient handling of palletised goods and cages, including loading and unloading at each delivery point
• Maintain clear communication with the driver and Depot Transport Office, ensuring any issues are reported promptly while delivering excellent, courteous customer service
• Support safe and compliant operations by following company procedures and assisting with accurate completion of required paperwork

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• Previous experience supporting multidrop deliveries is preferred but not essential
• Strong customer service skills with clear and professional communication
• Comfortable carrying out manual handling tasks including lifting, pulling and pushing
• Positive, can-do attitude with a proactive and reliable approach to work
