Job summary

NRG Riverside Ltd. is seeking a Driver/Yard Assistant to be based in the Salisbury area. The role involves collecting vehicles from Salisbury, moving them to Calne for servicing, and returning them daily.

You will also perform vehicle washes, basic maintenance tasks, and keep the yard clean while assisting with vehicle movement. The successful candidate will have HGV/commercial vehicle experience, familiarity with municipal or specialist vehicles, and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• HGV/commercial vehicle experience in yard or fleet support.
• Experience around HGVs, specialist or municipal vehicles.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of commercial vehicle assets.
• Experience preparing vehicles for MOT, inspection or hire with ability to spot, record and report defects.

Responsibilities

• Collect vehicles from Salisbury depot and move to Calne depot for servicing, returning to Salisbury at end of day.
• Perform thorough vehicle washes on chassis and bodies for inspection, MOT or hire, and valeting interiors.
• Carry out general labouring duties in workshop/engineering areas to maintain safety.
• Keep yard, car park and wash bay clean and tidy; report equipment misuse or damage.
• Assist with movement and delivery of vehicles.

We’re looking for an experienced Driver/Yard assistant to be based in the Salisbury area.

The Yard Assistant is responsible for ensuring our HGVs and specialist vehicles, yard, and worksh op areas are maintained to the highest standards, alongside assisting with the movement and delivery of vehicles.

What will you be doing?

• As a HGV Driver you will be collecting vehicles, from the Salisbury depot, daily and moving them to our Calne depot for servicing, returning them to Salisbury at the end of the day.
• While in Calne you will be carrying out duties as below :
• Carrying out thorough vehicle washes on chassis and bodies to a standard fit for inspection, MOT, or hire as well as valeting cab interiors.
• Performing general labouring duties within the workshop and engineering areas to maintain a safe working environment.
• Keeping the yard, car park, and wash bay areas clean and tidy, reporting any equipment misuse or damage.
• You will assist with the movement and delivery of vehicles.

What are we looking for?

You’ll ideally have:

• HGV / commercial vehicle experience – ideally from a Yard Assistant, HGV Valter or similar fleet support role.
• Experience working aroundHGVs, specialist or municipal vehicles is a big plus.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and an understanding of commercial vehicle assets is a plus.
• Experiencepreparing vehicles for MOT, inspection or hire with the ability to spot, record and report defects with vehicles, equipment and tooling.
• Astrong communicator who works well with different teams and takes feedback on board.
• Confidenthandling and manoeuvring large vehicles in a busy workshop or yard environment.
