Job summary

DHL Supply Chain in Darlington, UK is looking for a Driver's Mate to support our drivers in delivering goods safely and on time. This permanent role involves working patterns such as 4 on 2 off or 5 on 2 off, with start times between 05:00 and 07:00.

You will coordinate picking and loading, assist with unloading at premises or homes, keep customers updated, stay in touch with the transport team, and use an electronic handheld device to complete processes.

Qualifications

• Are physically fit as the role involves lots of manual handling.
• Have previous experience of working with volume orders.
• Have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage their own workload.
• Can perform simple maths calculations.
• Previous experience as a Driver's Mate, within a similar environment would be ideal but isn't a deal breaker!

Responsibilities

• Coordinating the picking and loading of goods onto your assigned vehicle prior to delivery
• Accompanying and assisting driver with unloading deliveries at licensed premises or homes
• Keeping customers up to date on the progress of their delivery
• Staying in touch with the transport team to advise of any problems
• Completing relevant processes on an electronic handheld device
