Job summary

AO is seeking a Driver Quality Coordinator in the Exeter area to energize our driver network, welcome new talent and uphold high standards of service. The role focuses on training, recruitment, driver grading, and resolving issues to ensure excellent customer outcomes.

You will work with a supportive team, shape driver performance, and contribute to a culture of positivity and reliability within AO’s delivery network.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading teams and driving driver performance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
• Ability to plan, organise and deliver engaging training sessions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging training sessions to new and existing self‑employed delivery drivers.
• Lead recruitment presentations to onboard high‑quality contractors.
• Monitor performance and fairness in driver grading and task assignments.
• Reduce customer complaints by supporting drivers and addressing issues quickly.
• Keep training records and support internal audits to maintain standards.
• Champion safety and compliance, ensuring drivers follow SSW and policies.
• Serve as the main contact for driver queries including payments, routes and incidents.
• Assist with incident resolution and ad hoc retraining as needed.

• Salary: From £30,000.00 to £32,000.00 per annum(depending on experience).
• Hours: 40 hours per week.
• Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday
• Job Type: Full time and permanent contract

Here’s What You Can Expect To Be Doing

• Deliver engaging training sessions to both new and existing self‑employed delivery drivers, ensuring they’re confident and prepared.
• Lead recruitment presentations to attract and onboard high‑quality self‑employed contractors.
• Monitor performance and fairness, helping to improve driver grading and ensure work is allocated equitably.
• Reduce customer complaints by proactively supporting drivers and addressing issues quickly and effectively.
• Keep accurate training records and support internal audits to maintain high standards.
• Champion safety and compliance, ensuring drivers are up to date with Safe Systems of Work (SSW) and internal policies.
• Be the go‑to contact for driver queries — from payments and routing to grading and damage claims.
• Support with incident resolution, including property, vehicle, and product damage, and deliver ad hoc retraining where needed.
