Job summary

Salford-Council is seeking a role that combines cleaning, general catering and the efficient transport of meals and other items to schools and Citywide sites across Salford. A clean UK driving licence is required and a vehicle will be provided to carry out duties within the hours.

This permanent, all‑year‑round position is 30 hours per week (Mon–Fri 11am–6pm with some flexibility). Knowledge of commercial cleaning is advantageous, but full training will be provided.

About the role

The role combines the cleaning of a premise to the required standard, assisting with general catering and cleaning duties, and the efficient transportation of meals, mail, and other goods / equipment to a variety of schools and other locations across the Citywide sites.

Knowledge of commercial cleaning would be advantageous but full training will be provided.

The post holder must have a clean UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel within the city. A vehicle will be provided for you to carry out your duties within your hours of work.

Please be aware that this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check – currently £49.50 (£41 for checks completed from 5th October 2026). The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month (£10.25 per month from 5th October 2026). If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50 (£41 from 5th October 2026).
