Job summary

Veolia Group in Solihull is hiring a Driver/Loader to operate a range of refuse collection vehicles at the Moat Lane Depot. You will drive safely and assist with loading bins, working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Daily checks and paperwork are part of the role, with adherence to health and safety standards. The role requires a valid UK driving licence and the ability to work as part of a team; full training will be provided and Veolia offers comprehensive benefits and development

• Ability to work in a team with good communication at all levels.
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety at work.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles safely.
• Assist loader when required to collect bins and bags.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report spills.
• Complete timesheets and paperwork accurately.
• Follow site Health & Safety procedures and wear Veolia PPE.

To work as a loader as and when required to which you will need to be available to collect bins, bags and other certified items from residents. This work involves outdoor working in all types of weather.To undertake daily vehicle (Check Safe) checks to ensure that the vehicle and equipment is roadworthy and in good working order and adhere to vehicle weight restrictions in accordance with the Council’s Operators Licence.To undertake maintenance and cleansing of the vehicle/equipment,internally and externally in accordance with the manufacturer's operating manual and the Council’s Operators Licence, reporting defects as soon as they become apparent.Report any accidents that occur during your shift to the manager and all accident reports are completed before you leave workComply with any site conditions ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed and appropriate Veolia PPE is worn at all timesTo accurately complete appropriate forms/paperwork or electronic tablet allocated workTo accurately complete appropriate forms/paperwork or electronic tablet allocated workEnsuring the road is left clean and tidy following collections, including bins placed back on the boundary and all spillages clearedEmptying bins or collecting bags from premises . This includes domestic waste , green waste and recycling.
