Lanes Group is recruiting a Drainage Engineer for its Sapphire Utility Solutions division in Andover, Hampshire. The role involves operating jetting and vacuumation units, CCTV investigations, and high-pressure jetting to clear blockages across the highways network.

You will work outdoors, as part of a small team, with a mix of day, night shifts and some travel. A hands-on approach is required and occasional away work is expected.

Qualifications

  • Excellent listening and communication skills are essential.

  • CPC Licence is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Operate two high-specification jetting and vacuumation units as part of a small team.
  • Carry out remote CCTV investigations to assess underground pipes and sewers.
  • Use high-pressure water jetting equipment to clear blockages in drains and sewers.
  • Liaise with customers and update electronic records accurately.
  • Report safety issues and carry out vehicle and equipment checks.
  • Role may involve days, nights and occasional stays away from home.

Department:

Sapphire Utility Solutions, a Lanes Group Company specialise in multiple divisions.

Highways works closely with operational and delivery teams to provide specialist infrastructure services that support the safe and efficient operation of the UK’s road network.The team delivers a range of maintenance, drainage, and improvement works, helping to enhance network performance, minimise disruption to road users, and ensure highways assets remain safe, compliant, and resilient for the communities they serve.
Role: Drainage Engineer

Location: Andover, Hampshire.

Hours: 50 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 6am-4pm.

Purpose of the role:

Working on a variety of different reactive contracts, you will be driving our gully wagons, working closely with an operative to clean along the highways. You will be working closely with a HGV driver to clean along the highways, up and down the country. You will be assisting with getting in and out of the cab to conduct work accordingly, so a hands on approach is needed and a willingness to get stuck in; and you will be responsible for using a company tablet on a daily basis. You will be outdoors for the majority of your working day - so a love for the great outdoors is also a must!

Mixture of days, nights and working away! ESSENTIAL to consider this before applying.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be working closely in a team of 2 operating high specification jetting and vacumation units.
  • Carry out remote CCTV investigations where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
  • Liaising with customers.
  • Updating electronical records.
  • Ensuring safety issues are reported.
  • Vehicle and Jetting Equipment checks
