Job summary

Lanes Group Ltd is recruiting for a gully wagon operator based in Grateley, Hampshire. The role involves driving and operating jetting/vacuumation units on reactive highway contracts, with close teamwork and field work across the network. The position requires an HGVClass 2 licence (max 6 points) and IT literacy. CPC certification is desirable, with a 50-hour week and a salary of £36,000–£45,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Operate high‑pressure water jetting equipment to clear blockages in drains and sewers.
  • Liaise with customers.
  • Update electronic records.
  • Ensure safety issues are reported.
  • Vehicle and jetting equipment checks.

Location:

Grateley, Nr Andover, Hampshire.

Hours:

50 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 6am-4pm.

Salary:

£36,000-£45,000 per annum (depending on experience and tickets)

Highways

works closely with operational and delivery teams to provide specialist infrastructure services that support the safe and efficient operation of the UK's road network.

The team delivers a range of maintenance, drainage, and improvement works, helping to enhance network performance, minimise disruption to road users, and ensure highways assets remain safe, compliant, and resilient for the communities they serve.

Purpose of the role:

Working on a variety of different reactive contracts, you will be driving our gully wagons, working closely with an operative to clean along the highways. This role can be physically demanding as you will be required to cover a lot of ground on foot as well as working in restrictive spaces. Use of a tablet is also a requirement of the role; therefore, you will need to have knowledge of using them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will be working closely in a team of 2 operating high specification jetting and vacumation units.
  • Carry out remote CCTV investigations where required to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear blockages in drains, sewers, pipes, and other wastewater systems.
  • Liaising with customers.
  • Updating electronical records.
  • Ensuring safety issues are reported.
  • Vehicle and Jetting Equipment checks
Experience and qualifications required for the role:
  • HGV class 2 driving license essential (no more than 6 points)
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
