Job summary

MCS Group is recruiting a DP Accountant for a leading public-sector organisation in Northern Ireland. You will own key financial functions, provide trusted financial advice to senior stakeholders and drive effective financial management across the organisation.

As a fully qualified accountant, you will deliver high-quality reporting, budgeting support and financial performance analysis, while leading teams to meet deadlines and maintain strong governance and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of one of the listed professional bodies.
• Have at least two years' post-qualification experience within the last ten years in a finance-related environment, covering financial planning and budgeting, financial accounting/auditing, and management accounting/cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Preparing Annual Reports and Accounts and ensuring high standards of financial reporting.
• Analysing complex financial data and providing high-quality financial information to support decision-making.
• Developing and implementing effective financial systems and processes.
• Providing expert advice and guidance on budget management, expenditure and in-year monitoring.
• Developing management accounting and financial performance reporting.
• Maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and senior management.
• Keeping up to date with public expenditure planning, monitoring, control and accountability requirements.
• Leading, managing and motivating teams with high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.
• Managing the resources and priorities of your own finance section.
• Supporting audit, governance and internal control arrangements.

The Role

As a DP Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management, reporting and control. You will work across a broad range of finance activities, providing expert advice and supporting effective decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this opportunity, you must:

Be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of one of the following professional bodies:

• Chartered Accountants Ireland
• ICAS
• ICAEW
• CIMA
• ACCA
• CIPFA
• Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland

AND

Have at least two years' post-qualification experience gained within the last ten years in a finance-related environment, covering one or more of the following areas:

• Financial planning and budgeting
• Financial accounting and/or auditing
• Management accounting and cost analysis
