Ascend Recruitment and Placements is recruiting a Deputy Manager to support a CQC-regulated domiciliary care service in Colchester. You will assist in leading day-to-day operations and service development to ensure safe, effective and person-centred care.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, quality assurance and staff performance, with scope to take on increasing responsibility as the service grows and prepares for CQC inspections.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in adult social care or a CQC-regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, person-centred care and CQC requirements.
• Experience in care planning, risk assessments and quality monitoring.
• Experience supervising, supporting and developing care staff.
• Understanding of Mental Capacity Act principles, medication management and incident reporting.
• Strong leadership, communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider management team.
• Commitment to promoting dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.
• A Level 3 qualification in Adult Care is desirable; Level 5 leadership/management would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with day-to-day management and operation.
• Help ensure compliance with CQC regulations and relevant legislation.
• Monitor quality and safety of care delivered to service users in their homes.
• Oversee care plans, risk assessments and service-user reviews; reflect changing needs.
• Support safeguarding, including identifying, recording, reporting and escalation.
• Assist with management of medication incidents, accidents and complaints.
• Support MCA requirements to protect rights, choices and independence.
• Carry out audits, quality checks and continuous improvement across the service.
• Support recruitment, induction, supervision, training and performance management of staff.
• Monitor staff competency, mandatory training and company procedures.
• Develop relationships with service users, families and professionals.
• Support CQC preparation, inspections and regulatory requirements.
• Provide leadership in the Registered Manager's absence.
